BrigePort Pub reopens
The BridgePort Brewpub in Portland, Ore., will reopen Feb. 23. Slightly new name, basically the same beer (the old beers are the same, the new beers are, well, new).
From the press release:
It’s not your old brewpub! Following a 14-month, extensive renovation, the beloved BridgePort BrewPub is back with an updated look and a new moniker: bridgeport brewpub & bakery (yes, all lower case). The pub is christening the new space with a party for the public, welcoming back old friends, and making an entire set of new ones. The gala event will take place February 23 from 6 p.m. to Midnight at 1313 NW Marshall St. A $10 cover charge includes food, live music, and one drink scrip. Ticket information is available online or by calling 503-241-7179. The event is for guests 21 and over.
The festivities kickoff at 6 p.m. with the eclectic music of 3 Leg Torso, a quintet that performs a creative synthesis of chamber music, tango, Latin and world music. It is a fitting opener, as the group has often played the BridgePort Chamber Music on Tap series in the past. Uprite Dub Orchestra plays from 8 to 10 p.m. with its signature brand of heavy dub, driving horns, and infectious vocals. The entertainment gets funky on the catwalk from 10 to Midnight with the mixes of DJ Stay in School; his bass heavy beats and cunning blends keeps even the most discerning of dance floors packed to the gills.
A sampling of the brewpub’s event menu will be offered throughout the evening as part of the cover charge. Beer, wine and signature cocktails will be available at the many bars located in the new space. The first drink is included with admission.
While much has changed in the century-old building, the comfortable feel of the brewpub has stayed the same. Rustic brick, timber and iron elements are still the theme, and concrete floors remain in the main pub. Tables are lined in rows, reflecting the commitment to remaining a true public house by fostering community among guests. The open architectural design reveals the character of the building while improving the overall layout, providing better access, bringing in natural light, and preserving and elevating the public house aspect of the brewpub.
There are six elements to the new space: the pub/dock, the bakery, the dining room, the mezzanine bar, the Old Knucklehead Room, and the Heritage Room. The redesigned pub offers an authentic brewpub experience, with an emphasis on BridgePort’s brewing history; step up to the bar for a pint of brewery fresh IPA served straight from the finishing tanks. The loading dock, a perennial hangout for BridgePort regulars in the past, now seats up to 77 with low tables and barstools that overlook the revitalized 13th Ave.
