Saint Arnold Divine

What’s “divine” from Saint Arnold Brewing Co. in Texas will be subject to change.

Saint Arnold DivineThe Houston brewery announced the rollout of a unique brand, featuring small batches of a variety of beer styles under the Divine Reserve label. The first, an American-style barley wine, hits the store shelves in time for the holidays. The brewery produced just 327 cases (1,308 six packs) of the 9.3% beer. While prices will vary, six packs should run between $12.99 and $13.99.

Saint Arnold plans to release each new batch of Divine Reserve after supplies of the previous batch are exhausted, with two to four batches produced per year.

“There will be four ways to find out what style of beer is in the bottle: through word of mouth, the Saint Arnold’s Army Newsletter, our web site or buy some and taste it,” said Brock Wagner, Saint Arnold founder and CEO.

“While most breweries make beer for the lowest common denominator, we are going the other direction and brewing Divine Reserve for people who enjoy exploring a variety of great tasting beer.”

While we greatly admire Saint Arnold, we must pick one nit with Mr. Wagner. We agree that most beer is brewed for the lowest common denominator, but think that most breweries are more like Saint Arnold. Alas, they are dwarfed by the world’s brewing giants.
