One reason not to buy Norwegian, and one you should

Norwegians pay more for their beer than their cousins in the other Nordic countries. Norwegian beer is twice as expensive as Danish beer, even when state taxes have been deducted.

In case you are curious, it appears the top-rated Norwegian beer at Ratebeer.com is Nøgne Ø # 100 (Batch 100).

The #100 costs USD 16 in the shops here in Oslo. But, it is worth it - at least if you compare it with the other beers that are available here. A regular draft pilsner is USD 8. :)

Sounds to me like a reason to begin homebrewing.

Indeed. The main reason to start homebrewing is not really the expensive beer, but rather the poor beer selection.
